Acting:

Karen recently appeared in Marlon’s monumental wedding episode on Emmerdale.

She can currently be seen in Laugh Lesson: 'Becoming a Karen', on BBC THREE.

Karen played Doreen in Allison Carr’s ‘A Street Like This’ by Unfolding Theatre winning a Journal Culture Award in Sept 2023 for Best Performance.

She also played the role of Janet in Lindsay Rodden's comic drama HERE at Northern Stage, nominated for a ‘Journal Culture Award‘ September, 2022.

Directing:

‘Tiny Fragments of Beautiful Light’, by Alli Davies, was produced in 2023 at Alphabetti Theatre, directed by Karen. It received widespread audience and critical acclaim.

Since then ‘Tiny Fragments’ has been supported by Arts Council England to embark on a National Tour to venues such as Derby Playhouse & Chester Storehouse finishing its run at Birmingham Rep in March 2025.

Karen also directed Steve Byron’s 'Sucking Eggs’, re-opening Alphabetti Theatre in June 2021, to post-lockdown, socially distanced audiences.

Other directing credits include: ‘Mosquitoes’ by Lucy Kirkwood' for Royal Birmingham Conservatoire at The Crescent Theatre, ‘Nasa Lies', by Elijah Young Alphabetti, Newcastle, ‘The Sky Sings’, by Alli Davies for Coracle, 'Christmas Carol', by Steve Byron, 'Police et Digitos', 'The Last Stop' and Night Trade all for Alphabetti Theatre.

As Assistant Director: 'The Snow Queen' and 'A Christmas Carol' (JMK Assistant Director Bursary winner) at Northern Stage.

She has worked nationally and internationally with The Royal Shakespeare Company, The Young Vic, The Royal Lyceum Edinburgh, Princeton Rep Shakespeare Festival, Theatre By The Lake, Hull Truck, Live Theatre, Northern Stage and many others.
