Technical Passion. Business Practicality. Global Presence.

Why I Love Engineering
I love the challenge of solving problems. As a child, I was always curious about how things work. Understanding how math and physics contribute to so many aspects of our daily lives has always been fascinating to me. I love sharing with others, especially young people, all the cool things engineers get to be a part of. I work closely with the Girl Scouts as a STEM Cause Ambassador to share the great opportunities available in this field. I think passion comes from the opportunity to challenge yourself every day with work that truly interests you. As an engineer, every day is different, and every day offers the chance to create a new solution.

A Tale of Two Visions: Business Strategies & Technical Solutions
Engineering is about creating solutions. In my opinion, real solutions not only solve problems but also make good business sense. I recognized early on in my career the best equation for success was composed of a balance of technical specifications and business strategy. Earning my MBA prepared me to understand the business side of my work. A solid understanding of business analytics has enhanced my ability to deliver solutions that are both technically sound and industry competitive. My favorite quote to my team is "know your budget and customer's expectations, when customer is asking for a Hyundai, don't deliver a Mercedes". While many engineers tend to dwell on the process, I understand top managements wants to see results.

Engineering International Relationships
The ability to build successful business relationships on a global scale is vital for many organizations. In my experience, the key factor for positive international connections is understanding culture. Culture is very powerful. Learning about the customs and lifestyle of those you are doing business with is imperative. I have had the opportunity to take part in many international projects over the course of my career. The ability to do so is a huge part of what makes my career so rewarding.

All in Focus
My work as engineer is often very technical, which I love. Outside of work I like to branch out into areas that I don’t have an opportunity to work in every day. For me, photography and painting provides a colorful and creative outlet I really enjoy. As a photographer I get to capture a moment in someone’s life that they will remember long after the moment is over.
