Young Heart Foundation founder Karim Phillips bred and lived in Ghana. Here is how he describes hisjourney to the founding of YOUNG HEART FOUNDATION

"Right from infancy, I was very busy while a little boy and loved anything progressive. I have always believed life offers so much tobe passionate about. My career is all about helping people and I adore theprospect of doing even more to give support to others to achieve their goalsand happiness in life, to help bring their dreams to reality. I have always had passion for giving, and wasfulfilled any time I was able to satisfy a need. I have also loved sports, business andcomputers. Young Heart Foundation allows me to blend those interests with mydesire to give. My friends and familydescribe me as easy going, energetic, vibrant, generous, honest, and a funloving person. My neighbours complemented me with these same traits.

I have done everything with much seriousness anddetermination and let nothing slow me down. The Young Heart Foundation wasfounded with my motive and vision of bringing hope and a sense of belonging tothe less privileged children, widows, women and aged. Within that vision is my desire to assist andpromote education for school age girls. On a broader scale, my hope is to increase awareness of how easy it isto prevent or treat non communicable diseases. At the core of these efforts I recognized that people need a job which allows them to at least survive. Without income one cannot acquire basic needs such as health care, education, and basicfood, clothing and shelter for their family. My wish is still to empower ordinary people to bring extraordinary change to our loving society, with hope we can believe in. I believe in the innate power and drive of individuals to shape their own destinies and the destiny of their families and communities if they have the privileges of education, training, and othersupport. To act as a catalyst for this innate power I decided to join hands with other non- profit making organizations to try and reach out to as many of the needy as possible, to reduce or alleviate poverty and generate opportunity for the lives of theunderprivileged through empowerment, training, support, education andcare. I am very sincerely grateful to have devoted members and volunteers around me who have the same passion I have. We are working together to make a greater impact and also achieve this vision for a much more dignified and promisingfuture.
