Karina’s role as a member of CAPS Board of Directors focuses on Program Development. She also worked the Mayor’s 2014 Summer Night Lights Program with the Gang Reduction & Youth Development Foundation as a Program Coordinator for Jim Gilliam Center. Prior to that she was the Office Staff Assistant and Intern Coordinator at Mayor Garcetti’s Office of Education and Workforce Development. Her long-term goal is to become a Post-partisan Educational Policy Consultant working closely with the government and community to solve current day issues in education. As part of her accomplishments, Karina has been recognized as a social entrepreneur by CNN’s Next-List and a ‘Latina to Watch’ with Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE). She graduated from USC with a B.A./ B.S. in American Studies & Ethnicity and Policy Planning & Development. In her spare time, Karina enjoys road cycling, dancing, drawing, reading, and traveling when given the opportunity.
