Karin Yeske

Saskatoon

Karin Yeske is a graduate of one of Canada’s leading journalism programs – the University of Regina.

Karin is currently a digital reporter for the Saskatchewan-based news station 650CKOM. She was previously the executive director of Regina’s Morning News for Rawlco’s News Talk Radio in Regina before moving to Saskatoon.

Before News Talk Radio, Karin was the interactive writer/producer for Regina Leader-Post. She was responsible for posting a variety of content to leaderpost.com , including photos, audio and video in addition to words.

May 2010 marked a move from small city Saskatchewan to the news hub of Canada- Toronto. Karin was selected, along with six others, as a 2010 Joan Donaldson scholar. For four months, Karin worked at CBC News Network. She contributed as a chase producer for “Connect with Mark Kelley” and a writer for “CBC News: Now.”

Karin returned in August 2009 from an eight month internship as a producer/reporter with Alberta Primetime. It is a provincial current affairs show that airs weeknights from the City of Edmonton . She worked collectively with CTV Edmonton and CTV Calgary, both top news casts in their respective regions. It was a unique experience to be part of a brand new television show. It was up to Karin and her colleagues to shape the program and work out any kinks. In a few months she watched their hard work transform a wobbly pilot into a cutting edge current affairs production.

Karin first knew she wanted to be a journalist when she went to the local radio station instead of going with her parents for “take your kid to work day.” She has lived all over the Prairies and gained new perspectives and experiences along the way. Karin enjoys change (and does so by traveling at every chance she gets), coffee and running.
