Co-founder and CEO of Amway Kenya Plc., Daniel Kariuki brings more than 10 years of experience in marketing to millions of clients across Kenya. Based in Nairobi, Daniel Kariuki laid the foundations for his marketing career while a student at Oxford University; College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A business major focusing on banking and finance, Daniel Kariuki earned a B.Sc. degree in Business Administration from Oxford University in 2002.
With an unwavering focus on his professional development, Daniel Kariuki began advanced studies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, pursuing a Master’s degree in Business Administration. Upon receipt of his MBA in 2005, Daniel Kariuki entered the competitive world of Marketing and banking. Jim Daniel Kariuki later enriched his career and knowledge of the industry through completion of the Executive Management Program at Harvard Business School. After 3 years performing various duties as a financial manager and executive at a wide range of institutions, Daniel Kariuki co-founded Amway Kenya Plc. in 1990. A native-born Kenyan, Daniel Kariuki quickly established HUIS Plc. as the largest groceries stores–and eventually, company–in the country. Employing a variety of proven organic growth strategies for his organization, CEO Daniel Kariuki built his company from the ground up, gaining widespread recognition from colleagues and competitors alike. Since the founding of Amway Kenya Plc., Daniel Kariuki has overseen the expansion of his company around the country and beyond, setting up branches in Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and the United Kingdom. In July 2010, Daniel Kariuki successfully orchestrated the initial start-up of Huis Plc. The same year, Amway Kenya Plc. earned a strong, long-term credit score of AA, further punctuating Daniel Kariuki’ s leadership and setting the stage for exponential growth of the company. Today, Amway Kenya enjoys annual revenues of $192 million and a net income of $50 million and possesses total assets of $1.9 billion.
