Kari Christine Van Horn is a social sports reporter. The product of a sportscaster and a TV news writer, she was fortunate to grow up in the Los Angeles area with professional teams in her backyard.

Kari is currently a Digital Video Beat Journalist for ABC affiliate KNXV-TV.

She considers herself a predator reporter and for the past eight years she's hunted down stories to shoot, edit, write, report and deliver across multiple media platforms. She graduated from the University of Southern California with a double major in Psychology and Social Science along with a minor in Sports Media Studies. While there, she was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority, president of the Sports Business Association and active on USC’s novice rowing and softball teams. Hard work and over 20 internships while in school propelled her to work for industry giants such as ESPNLA, Yahoo Sports, the NFL, CBS and ABC15 Arizona. She has one brother, Brandon, who is a professional baseball player in the San Francisco Giants organization.

Kari covered all of the L.A. teams on a daily basis August 2012 to February 2015 with daily responsibilities including logging games, interviewing collegiate and professional athletes, retrieving and editing audio/video from other sources as well as producing show rundowns.

One full day at Dodger Stadium had her on the field interviewing Mrs. Rachel Robinson, Harrison Ford, Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar about the movie “42”. Before speaking with them, she interviewed Dodgers’ Manager Don Mattingly, Adrian Gonzalez and Matt Kemp about Jackie Robinson Day, the deadly Boston Marathon bombing, and the scuffle with the Padres. When the Lakers retired Shaq’s number, she covered the pregame presser, was on the court for the halftime ceremony, and in the locker room to interview the Lakers about winning on that historic day.

In October 2016, Kari was covering an Arizona Fall League game when journalistic instincts led to her breaking the story of Tim Tebow praying over a fan who had a seizure in the stands. The story made national headlines and Van Horn was invited on Good Morning America to share about the experience.

Kari had many internships while in school: in front of/ behind the camera and in the radio production booth/ on the air waves. Her work background includes WMAZ-TV, NFL.COM, YAHOO SPORTS, KABC-TV, KNBC-TV, ESPNLA's KSPN-AM, KDDB-FM and KUMU-FM.
