Karl Chifokoyo stands as a solid figure in the realms of sustainable enterprise development, renewable energy, and youth empowerment. With a background rooted in technical mastery and an unyielding passion for environmentalism, he has used his diverse experiences to create transformative impacts across industries, geographies, and social sectors.
Starting as a Class A Diesel Tech Artisan, Karl's journey took him across diverse landscapes, from the open cast mines of Selebi Phikwe, Botswana, where he conducted onsite maintenance for exploration drilling, to the remote terrains of Afghanistan. During his four-year tenure as a NATO contractor, he proved remarkable leadership in managing military transport and power generation contracts. Karl's responsibilities extended to overseeing multiple generator-fed mini grids within Afghanistan's forward operating bases (FOB’s), revealing his ability to navigate complex technical systems in demanding environments. Beyond technical prowess, these experiences forged within him qualities of endurance, resilience, and cross-cultural etiquette, shaping him into a true global citizen.
The crucible of his experiences ignited the spark of entrepreneurship within Karl. This transformative phase led to the start of Apollo Energy (2014), a pioneering renewable energy company based in Harare, Zimbabwe. Through Apollo Energy, Karl not only harnessed his technical acumen but also proved his commitment to sustainable business practices. This venture not only empowered communities with renewable energy solutions but also reflected his dedication to fostering a circular economy that respects and preserves the planet's resources.
In parallel, Karl's dedication to environmental causes and sustainable development spurred him to co-found LLB Africa (2009), a distinguished non-profit organization (NPO) at the forefront of environmental preservation and youth development in Barkley West, South Africa.
This platform allowed Karl to extend his impact beyond the business sphere, working passionately towards climate change mitigation and adaptation. His contributions have positioned LLB Africa as an official technical partner for the African Union’s NEPAD's Afr100 initiative, a testament to his commitment to effecting tangible change on a global scale.
