My work deals with designing for a world where information and computation are abundant resources. I specialize in how people make sense of information by interacting with it.
I am the Director of Information Architecture at Normative, a software design studio in Toronto.
I am co-authoring the book Design for Understanding with Stephen Anderson.
For many years I was a professor of User Experience Design at Kent State University. I was instrumental in building one of the first online master's programs in user experience.
I'm a founding member of the Information Architecture Institute.
I'm based in Minneapolis.
