I live in South Africa, in a small Karoo town which is surrounded by mountains. I love my country and all her people. It is the diversity of cultures, nature and our history that inspires me to create. I respect others, their religion and believe, and hope that they would do the same for me. We cannot all be the same, but to coexist we need respect. I left the rat race 10 years ago to come and live here in peace. In the early years I thought that I sacrificed a lot for this opportunity. Today I know that I sacrificed more during the years in the city. I should have came here many years ago.
I enjoy reading, love music (I play the djembe), and sometimes when I’m in the right mood I write. I still write with my fountain pen, and on good paper. Writing helps me to give wings to emotions and ideas. I also do pencil sketches and create digital paintings. I love working with leather, making bags, bracelets or whatever my moods leads me to. Another passion is woodwork. Especially wood turning. Creating something from a block of wood on the lath is a feeling that you cannot describe.
I do however spend most of my time on photography. I see the world through the lens of my camera. I try to take photos which will allow others to see what I can see, and hope to inspire them with it, as it inspires me. As long as I can create, I'm happy.
