Karsten Reuss works as an Economist and Technology Consultant at VDI. In his PHD thesis Karsten used econometric simulation models to study policies that reduce income and educational inequality. Like many economists, he enjoys analysing large datasets and numbers to identify correlations and causal relationships (econometrics). Currently, he is particularly interested in data science, innovation (eco-)systems and evaluations of public policy. Examples of projects Karsten recently participated in: Monitoring of Innovation and technology policy (Blockchain, Chatsbots, etc.), Evaluation of surface and frontier technologies Thuringia, Technology Report for Saxony, Development of the Regional Innovation Strategy (RIS3) for the state of Thuringia, Evaluation of the INVEST program (a program that helps to stimulate venture capital investments at the early stage for young firms). To get new data the methods he applies range from desk research, interviews to questionnaires. Karsten's fields of research include innovation economics, data science, technology trends, regional economcis, educational economics and family economics.
