On a Wednesday night after a nice dinner with a friend, I was driving back home listening along to some pleasant, soothing music. Unfortunately, as I was driving back home, I caught sight of an accident on the other road (it happened right in the middle of both sides of the road). No, rather than sight, I HEARD the aftermath of the accident as I could hear a lady screaming and wailing in either agony or anguish. This was the type of scream you see/hear in horror movies, the spine-curdling ones. I have seen multiple aftermaths of accidents but trust me this lady screaming loudly and holding something or rather someone (this occurred in the middle of the night) was the kind that belonged in nightmares.
Moving on, I immediately noticed people from a few surrounding cars come down and ty to help the lady and whoever she was holding (there were no police around the area yet). I, unlike them, immediately went home and checked my car for any possible bloodstains. I clearly was not in the right state of mind, and who would be after hearing that banshee scream. After confirming that actual events that happened (it turned out to be a hit and run from another vehicle), I immediately felt ashamed that the first thought that came to me after I heard that scream was not stepping down and providing aid to the lady.
This is admittedly a weird event to share that would describe me as a person, but I eventually decided that this encapsulates who I am for now. As of right now, I am not a mature adult who can tackle anything life throws at his way at any moment. Rather, I am someone who learns from incidents whether or not they have anything to do with me and will ripen into maturity.
