Karwee Marshall
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I'm a young man from Liberia, West Africa who grew up in Brooklyn Park, MN. I have a passion for acting, entertaining, and inspiring those around me. My West African cultural and background is what makes me whom I am today: one who is not scared to dream and go after what he wants, from radio to T.V. to films and more. I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me.
Who are your major influences and why?
The youth inspire me; I want to show young people that anything is possible. Also my grandmother, she helped me realize that anything is possible with a strong work ethic and determination.
What would you like people to know about you?
My artwork articulates who I am and even enables me to connect with who I am not. As an actor, I inspire and uplift an audience by embodying a character whose voice is not usually heard. It is my responsibility as an actor to change peoples' moods, influence their minds, and open their hearts.
With so many people suffering in the world today, my role as an actor is even more profound because through the characters I play, people are able to find redemption and hope. The characters who speak to me most are those with complexity and depth and a distinct cultural perspective. When taking the steps into looking for a script or developing a character I explore and embrace characters who challenge me and take me on a journey of growth, inspiration, and knowledge. After locating that central focal point, I am able to master the character and then share him with the world.
I expect to contribute the uniqueness of my individual perspective as an African actor to what is already guaranteed; stand out as exceptional. Being in a position to act, produce, write, cast, direct and collaborated with a diverse environment will be a great experience. True artists force people to listen even when they don't want to hear.
What lesson can you share with us that you've learned over the years?
Anything is possible. The Bible tells me that with man it is impossible but with God anything is possible. I believe full-heartedly that anything is possible. It's okay to fail. Just get back up, correct your mistake, learn, and grow, and keep pushing. Always be thankful.
Is there anything else that you would like to add?
I've been told that I'm probably one the most positive people you will ever meet. A kid with a dollar and a dream that ended up .....
