Karyn Bigelow

Karyn Bigelow is a native Washingtonian. She majors in Social Relations and Policy in the James Madison College at Michigan State University. In 2010, she was a Ronald E. McNair Scholar her research focused on the effects of sentencing guidelines on judicial discretion for drug offences. She has been involved in numerous governance and activist groups at Michigan State University, such as the James Madison College Student Senate and the W.E.B. Du Bois Society. She has also served as a mentor to freshmen in her college to help them acculturate to college life. Karyn has interned on Capitol Hill for House of Representatives. She has interests in promoting higher education, environmental concerns, and the effects of having an incarcerated parent has on children. She is also now a Young People For fellow.
