Kassandra Nelson

I was born in the small town of Orillia, Ontario and grew up at our family business, Fern Resort. Ever since I was little, my passion has been history and art. When I was nine I was lucky enough to travel to the Louvre in Paris where I developed an admiration for paintings and sculpture. Since then, I have been able to travel to more than fifteen countries visiting and marveling at some of the world’s most famous museums. While I was in Europe, I developed a love for Medieval and Renaissance history and I hope to study it more in the future.

I am currently studying history at the University of Ottawa and am hoping to achieve a double major in General History and the History and Theory of Art. My favourite classes so far have been Roman Civilization and European History. I also am very passionate about languages. I have taken classes in French, Italian, Spanish, and Latin and have learned some Medieval English, German and Russian. I aspire to learn as many languages as I can!

In the future, I hope to spend a year abroad in Europe studying history and language. I still have many places I would like to travel to, such as the new library at Alexandria, Scotland, Ireland, the Cairo Museum, and Athens.

Besides history and traveling, I enjoy reading, painting, drawing, singing, watching BBC films (or any other kind of movie) and listening to music. My favourite band is definitely Coldplay- I am sure I have heard and loved every one of their songs. I also greatly enjoy listening to classical music, I find it very relaxing. I am also starting out as a model at Model’s International Management and am having a lot of fun!
