Concert pianist / Jazz pianist and vocalist..

And so life continued for me safe and secure in a lovely, warm, loving family in a house always full of laughter, so much love, fun and interesting things going on.

It was sheer bliss.

I’ve since learned that young children are remarkably resilient.

I returned to school and no-one mentioned the tragedy.

I also continued with my piano lessons so very much enjoying each one.

I was then found to have an eidetic memory which occurs in a small number of children and is virtually non-existent in adults.

My ‘party trick’ was to listen to a piece of music – and then play it backwards!

I had already been awarded a scholarship to Juilliard at a tender age.

But before attending Juilliard as my parents were about to live in New York for a while I went to LaGuardia Arts – aka:

The ‘Fame’ School.

It was superb for me – for so many reasons, and it was very much akin to how it was portrayed in the 1980 movie ‘Fame’. I made so many friends there most of whom are still so to this day.

As in the movie the school had pupils from every ethnicity ( it is of course in New York ) and the vast majority came from very modest if not very poor homes and neighborhoods such as the Bronx, Harlem, Queens, Brownsville, Coney Island, etc.
