Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Kathryn (Kate) Brook Wallace draws her depth of character from a unique and varied upbringing. Her passion for dance started very young and though her hometown was located far from any formal ballet program, that did not damper her committment to developing her craft. Kate eventually joining "Ballet Clasico Santiago" and quickly became one of the up-and-comming bright stars of the company. Studying at the acclaimed National Ballet Academy in Habana Cuba was a highlight in 2013. In January 2013, Kate founded the Jarabacoa Ballet Academy in her hometown to help share her passion with the younger girls of her community who otherwise would never have been exposed to dance. This is remarkable since she did this at age 14. In 2014, at the age of 15, Kate moved to Tyler, Texas, with her family and is currently dancing with the TJC Dance Academy, under the direction of Juilliard graduate Carolyn Hanna.
Between dance, being a full time student at The Brook Hill School, and serving as the full time school mascot (SARGE) Kate doesn't have much spare time. Being the school mascot, she received top honor awards, All American, 2015 NCA Best Mascot award, and the spirit stick. In that little time she has left, she stays very engaged in family, works part time and enjoys ultra distance trail running, cross country and track. She aspires to dance professionally some day and is currently looking for just the right dance company as high school graduation looms on the horizon....Spring 2016.
