An 8th-generation granddaughter of the civil rights activist and author Richard Henry Dana, for whom Dana Point is named, Kate Dana has lived in California since 2003 — except for the 5 years she spent as an international educator teaching in Mexico and Colombia.

In addition to being the creator of Cocameca, a website featuring expert culture, lifestyle, and travel advice, Kate Dana is the owner of two 1969 Italian motor scooters and the founder of Scooterella, a website for women who ride vintage in a modern world.
