Kate Fallone
I am a 22 year old graduate of the University of Vermont. While my undergraduate studies focused on English, I also minored in Special Education, and worked as a tutor and WID Mentor in the Writing Center. During that time I also worked at the Young Writers Project, a small non-profit organization that focuses on digital writing, honest expression, and creating supportive communities of learners. The great experiences I had in Vermont pushed me to stay at UVM and receive my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and my Secondary Teaching License. I have taken all of these experiences to heart, and want the opportunity to teach English in your high school. My degree from UVM served me well, and I am qualified to teach a wide range of English classes. Further, I am able to differentiate instruction, and implement any accomodations and modifications in a student's IEP or 504 plan. I strive to keep content interesting for my students, and make everything we do relevant to a 21st century learner. I don't expect every student to fall in love with literature, or go off to college and study English. I do expect that each of my students come away with 21st century learning skills, as well as the ability to express themselves verbally and through writing. Every person has the right to self-expression. Let me bring my diverse skills, positive attitude and colleagueship to your school.
