Katelyn Pesner

Autism Behavioral Therapy, Teacher, and Consultant in Manhattan Beach, California

My name is Katelyn, and I’ve been passionate about working with kids with Autism as a volunteer since 2002, and as a working professional in the field of behavioral therapy since 2010. I have seen just how much these kiddos are capable of achieving when they feel safe, supported, and properly motivated. There is nothing better than seeing the spark in their eyes when they finally break through.

What’s tough for parents is that help for kiddos with autism comes from a lot of different sources. You have teachers, Occupational Therapists (OT’s), Behavior Interventionists (BI’)s, Physical Therapists (PT’s), and other members of the team who are all working their magic. These providers help kiddos cope with new or tough situations in distinct ways. What I do is help to create a stable base, a foundation for the kiddos to start from in the form of a comfortable home situation. Next, I connect with your kiddo, and build trust. How do I do that? By working off of what makes them tick. Let them lead and play - their way! We are looking for an invitation into their world, and the only way to get that is by building a trusting connection. From there I help to integrate these different providers goals and targets along with my own, to help parents manage and prioritize their kiddo's needs, bringing about lasting change and positive results.
