Katelin Makowsky
Violinist and Violin/Piano Instructor in Flagstaff Arizona
Hi! My name is Katelin Makowsky, and I am from Yuma, Arizona! I began playing the violin at the age of 7 and the piano at 13, and I am currently a Graduate Student in Violin Performance at Northern Arizona University. In 2024, I graduated from NAU with a dual bachelor's degree in violin performance and instrumental music education, studying with Professor Steven Moeckel and mentored by Dr. Louise Scott in Suzuki Violin Pedagogy. I have served as concertmaster with the Arizona Western College String Ensemble and the Northern Arizona University Orchestras. Additionally, I have performed as a section violinist with various ensembles, including the Sedona Symphony, Flagstaff Symphony, San Juan Symphony, and the Brevard Music Center Orchestra. As a violinist, I had the opportunity to tour Europe with many festival orchestras, including the Prague Summer Nights Festival Orchestra, the Varna International Music Festival Orchestra, and the Music & More SummerFest Camerata Orchestra. During this time, I had the opportunity to perform in some of the world's most famous concert halls and participate in masterclasses with world-renowned violinists. As an active chamber musician, I have traveled throughout the United States, participating in masterclasses from award-winning chamber musicians, including the Fry Street Quartet, the Ezra Duo, and the Catalyst Quartet. I have been teaching at Flagstaff School of Music since 2023!
