Kate Naylor

Decatur, Georgia

Museum professional with an M.A. in Classical Civilizations and a Graduate Certificate in Museum Studies from Florida State University and B.A.s in Classics and Latin from the University of Georgia.

I am currently employed by Fernbank Museum of Natural History in two departments: Membership & Volunteer Services and Education (Animal Programs). Through these two positions, I work with extensively with both our visitors and our volunteers. Most of my work is focused on recruiting, training, scheduling, and coordinating the large pool of Polaris volunteers we rely on every day, but I am also heavily involved in our membership program. From initial purchases to member and donor exclusive events to annual renewals, I'm present at every stage, doing my best to satisfy the needs of our many members. Through my other position as an Animal Programs Facilitator, I can sometimes be found in front of a crowd of patrons during their visit, teaching them about various scaly, slippery, or fuzzy members of FMNH's live collection during an Animal Encounter.

No matter where I am, the mission is the same: inform, assist, and educate!
