Katherine King

My name is Katherine (Katie) King. I was born June, 25th 1991 (24 years old) in Charleston, West Virginia.

I am a P4 Pharmacy Student at the University of Charleston School of Pharmacy. I graduate in May 2016 with a Doctorate of Pharmacy.

I graduated from Hurricane High School in 2009 with a 4.5 GPA, and I was the first ever HHS recipient of the Harvard Book Award. During my childhood and adolescent years, I was a competitive chess player and won many awards including the Susan Polgar Award for being the best female player in the state of WV under 18. I also made the All State Team several times.

I attended the University of Charleston in Charleston, WV from 2009 to 2012 and graduated with a Bachelor's in Pre-Professional Biology. I received the Welch Colleague Scholarship and was an active member of the Global Student Organization. One of my main roles in this organization was to befriend and mentor the incoming international students at UC. This has given me the opportunity to make friends all over the world!

I began pharmacy school in 2012. I am a member of the Christian Pharmacist Fellowship International (CPFI), and continue mentoring fellow students in classes behind mine as a pharmacy delegate.

I joined the Catholic Faith at 11 years old, and I'm also an avid bird lover. I'm currently the "mother" of a 2 year old cockatiel named Shelley. I've also completed the Trainer-for-a-Day program at Pittsburg National Aviary in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.
