Katherine Keith is a distinguished Iditarod musher, author, and wellness expert located in Kotzebue, Alaska. Katherine moved to The Last Frontier after dreaming of the state since childhood. An avid reader, she became fascinated by the Alaska depicted on the pages of her favorite books. At age 21, she made that dream a reality.

Katherine got her start in mushing by working as a dog handler for a glacier tourist company, and later for the esteemed Iditarod musher Ed Iten. Since then, Katherine has been a part of five 1,041 mile Iditarods, a 1,000 mile Yukon Quest, two Kuskokwim 300s, and five Kobuk 440s. Katherine has also received numerous awards, including two from the Kobuk 440—the 2014 Sportsmanship Award and the 2016 Humanitarian Award—and Rookie of the Year in the 2017 Yukon Quest.

In 2019, Katherine Keith took a break from mushing for the first time in five years to focus on her book, Epic Solitude—her memoir on loss, perseverance, and adventure.
