EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: THE PROJECT/MISSION:
A live, educational seminar series dedicated to raising awareness and educating the community of survivors and their advocates of the local resources available. Bringing attention to the epidemic of child abuse and its impact on all levels of the survivors, incorporating the human condition of all peoples regardless of economic, social, education, culture, lifestyle and religious or non-religious status. The live seminar series entitled “Healing Survivors, Creating Thrivers” educates, facilitates, profiles and produces:
I. Identify forms of child abuse: physical, mental, emotional, sexual and spiritual
II. Educate regarding methodologies and myths of abuse
III. Clarify DO’s and DON’Ts to assist, interact with and support victims and survivors
IV. Provide advocacy for adult survivors
V. Address current national and local epidemic statistics
VI. Address the influence of the sex trade and prostitution on victims of child abuse
VII. Educate regarding the emotional impact victims endure and how to provide resources and support
VIII. Address victims/survivors acknowledging they are not alone nor are they different or destined to a life of lack and statistics
IX. Provide living testimonies from key note speakers, Sonia Beatrice and Katherine Symthe, that are survivors of complex child abuse and today are thrivers, as well as the insight of voluntary thriver panel members
X. Raise funds to offer grants to community resources to allow them the financial assistance to provide needed resources in their community
Healing Survivors, Creating Thrivers seminar series will begin its campaign with five seminars, starting in San Antonio, Texas with the intention to go national and global. Each seminar will be four hours long with a post two hour question and answer session. Local community and task forces will be integrated on a voluntary basis to provide additional resources for the seminars. A panel of local adult thrivers will speak regarding their successes and how victims do not have to become a:
