Kathryn Meola

A California litigator with nearly 25 years of experience, Kathryn Meola joined the San Mateo County Counsel's Office in 2006, first as deputy county counsel and eventually rising to chief deputy county counsel. During her 13-year tenure in the office, Kathryn Meola’s responsibilities included supervising the School and Special Education Deputy Teams, serving as co-counsel to the San Mateo County Charter Review Committee, and supervising public safety-related departments such as probation and the district attorney.
Previously, Ms. Meola spent more than a decade as deputy district attorney with the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office. In this role, she prosecuted complex homicide and sexual assault cases and was instrumental in the formation of a Sexual Assault Response Team. Additionally, she tried DUI, domestic violence, and felony cases.
Ms. Meola holds a bachelor of arts in English from the College of New Jersey, where she was an NCAA All-American tennis player, and a juris doctor from the University of San Diego. Since January 2019, Ms. Meola has served as general counsel for the California School Boards Association. When she is not working, she enjoys art, hiking, and biking.
