Kathryn Patterson
Teacher in Burlington, ON, Canada
Hello. I’m Kathryn. I’m a teacher living in Burlington, ON, Canada and I currently work for the Halton District School Board as an itinerant Student Success Teacher for eLearning. This role has taken me across the district and I have had the pleasure of working with many amazing educators and support staff in every high school in our board to support student success for all of our eLearners. Over my career, I have taught English and History, been Head of a Special Education Department, managed a program for Gifted students and started AP programming in Halton. I have also been a Student Success lead in a school. At this point, I have taught so many SPL and RCR programs that I feel competent (though not an expert) in many disciplines (Math and Science are still a struggle :). I adore working to develop Student Leadership Programs and Opportunities as well as building capacity in both staff and students to pursue their goals. My passion is working with students in ALL pathways to help them reach their potential. I have guidance experience, but will be in a full-time Guidance role in the fall and felt it would be worthwhile to extend my skills and knowledge even further. I did most of my Education at the University of Toronto, but have AQs from all over Ontario and enjoy learning wherever I go. I truly love teaching in all of its iterations and look forward to learning more. In my spare time, I enjoy working out, which helps because I love to explore various cuisine [I am a bit of a foodie]. I also love to write and read as much as possible.
