Kathy Walter

Social Media Manager, Public Speaker, and Small Business Owner in New York

Kathy Walter is responsible for conceiving and delivering innovative solutions that support the instructional and educational agendas of school districts and edTech companies. She recently served as the Executive Director, Product Strategy & Innovation at the NYC Department of Education and prior to that as Director, Product Development at a start-up online learning solution.

Kathy has a decade of experience managing IT projects, first as a COBOL programmer in the Utilities industry, then as an IT Project Manager in a variety of website consulting firms and the financial services industry. She also worked for nearly a decade in product management and development as a Technical Product Manager at Instinet Corporation, Associate Brand Manager at Gillette and Proctor & Gamble, and as a Senior Product Manager for Iron Mountain, before branching into Education.

Kathy has a BA in Applied Math from Union College, an MBA From NYU’s Stern School of Business, and a Graduate Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). She is currently working on her JD from Fordham University in Education and Intellectual Property. Kathy has been an ESL Educator at Northeastern University and Cambridge Learning Center; an ESL curriculum consultant with the YearUp program in Boston; and a program developer for several teaching projects in Uganda.
