I have many passions! Among them are...

• Teaching - I absolutely LOVE to teach, and Grade 6 is my all time favourite! Teaching Grade 6 L.A. is the best job for me for two BIG reasons: 1) every day is different and 2) I get to spend time with creative, funny, cool, interesting, wacky and SMART people; we learn new things together! :)
• Being a good friend - Friends are very important to me. I believe that putting time, effort and love into your relationships goes a long way to increasing your happiness.
• Spending Time Outdoors - My favourite activities are hiking and kayaking (I LOVE the water), but I enjoy just about any activity out in the fresh air!
• Reading - I enjoy reading almost any kind of book as I find I can learn a lot, even if I'm not reading my genres of choice (drama, youth fiction and poetry).
• Writing - Similar to reading, I like to write for all kinds of purposes, but my favourites are realistic fiction, poetry, lists, journals, blogs and letters.
• Learning - Currently, my learning time is mostly spent on cooking, playing bass guitar, being a better teacher and figuring out how to look after a home (I just bought my first house in July!)
• Making mistakes and learning from them - Making mistakes used to be a really hard thing for me and sometimes it still is. Maybe you can understand that, too. I have learned, though, that making mistakes is IMPORTANT and ESSENTIAL to learning something new - I don't want to stay "stuck" without moving forward!
• My Students - Yup. Even though I already mentioned teaching, my students get their own line on this "list of passions" because they make the day worthwhile even when I'm tired and teaching is hard. Seeing my students grow, learn and become "themselves" is a joy!
