I am a doctoral student in Math Education Leadership at George Mason University. I previously taught high school math at Trinity School at Meadowview. My Master's Degree in Education is from Marymount University and I graduated with a double major in math and computer science from North Park University in Chicago. I worked for 10 years in Public Finance originating municipal bonds before moving to Japan. I grew up in Costa Rica, Ecuador and Mexico and am fluent in Spanish.
My research interests are related to engaging students in mathematics through inquiry-based learning opportunities. I am curious about the affordances and constraints experienced by teachers as they seek to improve their instructional practices by learning about reform-based teaching practices such as mathematical-modeling.
