Katie Burnett
In June of 2015, Katie will be joining the team at the University of Iowa Foundation as an Assistant Director of Development to the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. There she will be working on the Iowa Arts & Minds campaign to restore the Iowa arts campus, which was devastated in the 2008 flood. She holds a BA in Theatre Arts and Communication Studies from the University of Iowa.
Katie started working in fundraising & development while at Trinity Repertory Company, a Tony-award winning regional theater in Providence, Rhode Island. Katie served as the Development Assistant during the 2014-2015 season, where she offered administrative assistance to a fundraising team of 6, and supported the close of an $18M comprehensive capital campaign. Katie had the chance to plan and execute a variety of donor events, and managed Trinity Rep’s Open Access Theater program, that offers free tickets to underserved populations in the Rhode Island community. While her time on the East Coast was incredibly gratifying, she is thrilled to be back in the Midwestern arts community she calls home.
Stage management for theater was Katie’s first love. She stage managed for theater, opera, and dance while at the University of Iowa, where she got her first exposure to working with new and developing plays with the Iowa Playwrights Workshop. In the summer of 2013, Katie worked as a stage management intern for The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's National Playwright's Conference and National Cabaret Conference. In the summer of 2014 ,she followed her love of new plays to New York Stage and Film’s Powerhouse Season as a Company Management Intern. She still stays involved with the theater community in any way that she can! (Once a stage manager, always a stage manager).
