Katie Christensen
Before I came to the University of Georgia, I spent a semester in Denmark. I worked as an au pair for a baker couple and spent my free time travelling and learning about myself. This image is my going away party, and the banner translates to "Good Luck Katie." I had to leave my closest friends, but I made life-long ones in the process.
Before I jumped on the plane, I wrote a note in my journal: Saying goodbye is hard. For many of my friends, it means "see you later," but you never know when life is going to make a turn, or who's always going to be there. I'd like to think that I'll be able to keep up with everyone I care about, but with college coming up and people moving away, I can see why most high school friendships don't last. I know that with those people I've truly bonded with, we'll find a way to stay in touch; I'll have to count on that as I venture out into the world. I know I'm ready for this trip.
