Hey, I’m Katie. I’m a teacher living in Shanghai, China. My face looks really big in this photo doesn't it? Now everyone who sees this is going to call me BigFace.

I was born and bred in Ireland and moved to China in 2010 to become a teacher. Turns out I was pretty good at it and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love every aspect of it: the excitement of a new idea, the anticipation before every class (especially the new ones), meeting new people who inspire me every day and most of all, the pride I feel when a student really gets it. It's an amazing feeling really. I took some time out to pursue a new skill (Digital Marketing) and now I am ready to get back to what I love best, teaching kids of all ages.

On 5th May of this year I became a mother to a wonderful, curious and imaginative girl. Currently she is taking up 90% of my time. The other 10% is allocated as follows:

5% studying (I will study anything, you can always learn something new)

2% doggy-dedication time where I give my dogs my full attention.

2% cleaning up after said daughter and dogs

1% deep breathing exercises, to keep it all together :)

I am a fan of movies and TV, education, and outdoors. I’m also interested in crafts and animals. If there is a horse around, I will try my best to ride it. If I see a dog I will try to pet it.
