Katie Joy

Hey! I'm Katie Joy. I'm a sophomore vocal music education major and piano performance minor at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa! I am also a very proud Christian, Italian and Southsider :) God is the most important thing in my life. He is my everything, my only Hope and I couldn't survive a single day without Him. My family is so extremely important to me... they're my entire world when everything else is crashing down. They make my life so beautiful that it's hard to see the ugly parts of life! I will love them forever. Music is my life, my passion, my poison and my remedy... it flows through my veins! My parents say I started singing at 10 months old and I've never quit! My dream is to be a high school or university choir director, and I would also love to have a career in opera and jazz! But choir is most definitely my true love. I believe that choir is a metaphor for life, and I believe that there is an infinite potential to learn about yourself, life and each other when you sing together. There's just something so beautiful about so many people resigning their free will, their artistic liberty, their time and their talents for the collaborative beauty and success of the sound of their voices. The emotion and bond you can feel between the people you sing with is something that simply cannot be explained. I want to be the girl who stands up for what she believes in, even if it's against the whole world <3 I am in love with words. They captivate me... puzzle me... intoxicate me... elude me... comfort me.... haunt me. I am constantly in search of quotes, expressions, lyrics, poems to express my heart. I am a verbose person with a great deal of emotion to express :)
