Growing up surrounded by animals is either a dream or a nightmare for people. I love animals, so getting to grow up riding horses has always been important to me. Eventually moving to a house with enough land that I could have my own animals on my own property is a dream for me. I have been riding horses since I could walk. My mom grew up riding; as soon as I was born she exposed me to horses. My mom’s dream was always to live on a farm and she shared that passion with our family. When my two younger sisters and I were old enough, we moved out of our neighborhood in Berwyn, PA and into a house surrounded by a lot more land, only about 15 minutes from our old house. We currently have three dogs, three goats, and a horse. We actually only had two goats at first but then one had a baby at our house, so that makes three! Being on the equestrian team here at UGA, I am still surrounded by animals almost everyday. Animals can teach people so much. I have learned to have a great work ethic from taking care of them all of the time. I have learned to be responsible for not only myself, but for another creature. Lastly, I have learned what I am passionate about. I am so excited to see where this will lead me as I transition into my first year at UGA.
