Katie L. Carroll
Writer, Editor, and Mother in the United States
Believe it or not I still live in the same small city in Connecticut where I was born and grew up. I even commuted to college, so I’ve really never, ever lived anywhere else.
That makes me sound pretty sheltered, but I love to travel and visit other places. I’ve been to Alaska to run a marathon, I’ve wandered through the streets of London in search of history and bookstores, and I’ve been swimming with the sharks in Tahitian waters.
I have two older sisters, a younger sister, and a younger brother, which allows me to blame all my personality problems on middle-child syndrome.
I started seriously writing when I was 19 and my 16-year-old sister, Kylene, unexpectedly passed away. She loved the Harry Potter books and insisted that everyone read them. She made a lot of reluctant readers into eager ones. I wrote my first book to give her a fantasy adventure of her own. I learned a lot about writing and about myself in the process and that book eventually became Elixir Bound.
I’ve worked as a cashier at a hardware store, a physical therapy assistant, and a puzzle magazine editor. Currently my most important job is taking care of my son, known on the Internet as The Boy. In addition to writing, I also edit novels for MuseItUp Publishing.
My husband, The Boy, and I live in the small city that has been my home for more years than I like to count.
