Katie Biggins is a fine art student currently studying at Sheffield Hallam University. Her work consists of paintings and installations exploring scenery and landscapes she experiences in her daily routine, Katie's aim is to explore ways in which to merge abstract and observational paintings to create a successful eye catching work. A large part of her paintings consists of vibrant bold colours that juxtapose the other half of her observational realistic paintings to create an "inbetween" - a painting that has abstract qualities but can influence the viewer and give them an idea of what they are looking at. She creates her paintings in this way In hope that people will take the time to really explore the work, decipher what the paintings are portraying and experience the landscapes and scenery that was experienced by that artist in a personal exciting way.Her current work consists of painting on canvas and an installation piece in MDF board that was recently exhibited in a group exhibition. BiographyI have always been very interested in pursuing a career in the arts so to kick start it in to a reality I Studied Fine Art level 3 BTEC at South Trafford College and received a Distinction/Merit/Merit, after finishing my 2 years there it was clear to me that art was definitely what I wanted to explore and excel at so I enrolled in a Fine art BA hons course at Sheffield Hallam university where I am currently studying to achieve my degree. Taking every opportunity to further my knowledge and my practise to move forward on a path to achieve my goal of working with art in my future job.
