Katie Dawson

Hello, my name is Kathleen Dawson but please, call me Katie! I attend Illinois State University and am majoring in Elementary Education. I am a 2013 Golden Apple Scholar recipient. This scholarship program has enabled me with the tools and the knowledge, thus far, to become the best teacher I can be.

My dream is to be a 1st grade teacher. I am very passionate about teaching this grade level because this is one of the beginning years that a child learns to read and reading is so important not only to me, but to our daily lives. Reading is a fundamental skill that one needs to succeed in life and I wish to instill a love for reading in all of my future students.

When I am not attending classes at ISU and spending my summer working for Golden Apple, I am spending time with my big family and my close friends.
