Katie DelaVaughn

Since 1999, Katie DelaVaughn has worked as a photographer and educator. Her photographs narrate a visual story of relationships, of celebration, of culture, of language and of identity.

Katie is the founder and director of Pedagogy of Photography (POP), a multicultural initiative designed to increase students’ literacy skills while promoting student voice through the medium of photography.

Katie received a graduate certificate in Documentary Photography and Masters degree from Columbia University. She has won numerous awards for her photographic work and has lectured at schools, universities and at conferences across the United States and Latin America. She has received several grants linking photography and education and her and her students’ collaborative images, installations and multimedia presentations have been widely exhibited both nationally and internationally.
