Katie Jarvinen
Lakeville, Minnesota
Hi. My name Katie Jarvinen and I am a new SAHM to a beautiful boy named Wyatt who was born in the fall of 2013. I am also a geriatric nurse and continuing on to my BSN currently. I am married to my wonderful husband Adam since the fall of 2012 and we are awaiting the arrival of our baby girl due this March!
I am a fisherman’s wife (hence the page theme) and we are an avid outdoor family. We love camping, fishing and boating!! I am excited to start getting back outdoors with my kids as they grow and explore. I love to cook and try to be as healthy as I can but I get lazy (who doesn’t) and sometimes it’s whatever I know my son will ingest.
Although I am caught up in the world of medicine I am very holistic at heart. I am planning an all natural birth with no drugs. I have a Doula and goody-bag full of essential oils!!I call myself an Oiler or Oily Mom because I am quickly falling in love with the power of these ancient medicines or whatever you want to call them. I am excited and nervous but cannot wait to have a better experience than the first time I was in labor! I was pumped with drugs that didn’t work, pushed for almost 3 hours straight, spiked a fever and lost bonding time due to a short NICU stay. Breastfeeding became non-existent (which was not in my birth plan), since my independent boy had his own plans. This time around I am feeling better prepared and more excited about the outcome. We are even trying placenta encapsulation due to my extreme anxiety after Wyatt was born. We have many adventures ahead!!
