Hi there, I’m Katie!
My creative arts practice is photography. Within the photography industry, the sector I am interested in is Wedding Photography. I am interested in this sector because I believe wedding portraits are amazing photographic works, and I appreciate the work of other wedding photographers. I enjoy capturing natural, un-posed moments, which is essential for a good wedding portrait.
I am undertaking my second year of Bachelor of Creative Arts Photography. In my first year of university I successfully completed Digital and Analogue Photography units and Darkroom Practices. I have shot a number of events, from first birthday parties, to engagement parties. I am a creative person to the core. Throughout High School I undertook arts subjects, my favourite being Year 11 Media, which allowed use of the darkroom. I worked as an Arts & Craft instructor at a Summer Camp in the US in 2014.
My skillset includes the ability to shoot with manual settings quickly and efficiently. I am very confident shooting analogue film, and framing of scenes is second nature to me. Outside of technical skills, I have the ability to make clients feel at ease and comfortable. I am very approachable, and can build rapport quickly. I specialise in portraits, and couple photography.
I have collaborated with other photographers for University assignments. I enjoy collaborating for a number of reasons. Working with another person gives you a second set of eyes, and they often see things you don’t, and vice versa. It also opens up new ideas and inspiration, hearing someone else's views/ opinions.
