Kathlyn Hossack
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
Recently graduated Kinesiologist and soon to be Athletic Therapist, I specialise in helping athletes of all sorts understand their bodies and improve their movement potential
I have been an athlete for most of my life, participating in soccer, cross country running, volleyball, basketball, badminton, curling, and track and field (discus and long jump). My focus has been training and competing as an equestrian athlete (hunter/jumper). Over the last few years I've has been privileged to compete at a provincial and national level, and has plans to continue achieving her goals within riding. I also enjoy working on my yoga practice, cycling, running, and lifting weights.
The many Equestrian sports have always been a part of my life, and inspiration for my work.. Riding is a sport that requires not only physical ability, but mental capacity. These two things often come hand in hand; as physical skills improve confidence in the tack follows.
Riders consider themselves to be athletes, however we don’t often see riders training like other athletes do. My business, Katmah Training has developed a program suited to an equestrian athlete’s needs. Athlete development within the sport of riding often overlooks rider health and fitness, with much of the focus placed on the horse.
This program is designed to give riders a new perspective: how training like the athletes they can be can lead to new heights for both horse and rider.
Using an integrative approach with aspects from the field of biomechanics, strength and conditioning, and injury prevention- athletes will learn how improving themselves can improve their ride.
