Katra Cunningham

Katra Cunningham is a Winthrop University alumni who obtained a B.A. in Mass Communication with a minor in Marketing on May 10th, 2014.

She kept herself quite busy while pursuing her undergraduate degree by being actively involved in Winthrop University's DiGiorgio Student Union, Winthrop University's on-campus Radio Station: WIN-R, Winthrop University's National Association of Black Journalists, Winthrop University's Homecoming Committee and she also served as the Editor-in-chief of Winthrop University's Multicultural newspaper, The Roddey McMillan Record, for a year (August 2012- May 2013).

While working with The Roddey McMillan Record, she won two awards from the South Carolina Press Association, one for Editorial Writing (2011) and another for Feature Writing (2013). She also coordinated a 3-day student publications workshop for all three of Winthrop's newspapers.

She also served as the Marketing and Design Team Member for Winthrop University's Center for Career and Civic Engagement where she managed the social media postings, designed flyers for events, promoted events, and distributed all promotional items around campus.

She did not limit her communication experience to Winthrop's campus alone, over the years she has served as an intern/writer for Sista's Keeper Magazine (2012), promotions intern for Clear Channel Media and Entertainment (2013), brand ambassador for the Charlotte Bobcats (Hornets) (2013), student translator for Fluent Grp. (2013) and she served as the retail marketing intern for Simon Property Group's South Park Mall.

Katra currently works as a Marketing Director at Harley Davidson, attends West Virginia University as a candidate for a Master's in Integrated Marketing Communications, and is a contributing writer at Thought Catalog, LinkedIn Pulse, and Buzz Feed.
