Mission-Driven Executive, Socialpreneur, and Public Speaker in Michigan

Katrina Studvent serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Development and Engagement for Gilda’s Club
of Metro Detroit with locations in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties. In her role, Katrina is
instrumental to the membership growth and program development that meets the needs of our Metro
Detroit communities and aligns with our four cancer support services’ pillars: support groups, cancer
education, healthy lifestyles initiatives and social engagement.
Katrina holds a B.A. in Political Science, from James Madison College at Michigan State University. She
earned her Master’s in Social Work degree with a focus in Non-Profit Management from the University
of Michigan, and she received a Non-Profit Leadership Certificate from John F. Kennedy School of
Executive Education at Harvard University.
Katrina previously served as Chief Development Officer at Karmanos, as well as director and race chair
of the Susan G. Komen Detroit Race for the Cure®, Michigan’s largest breast cancer event, where she
helped raise and invest more than $29 million in breast research and programs. Under her leadership,
The Komen Greater Detroit Affiliate was established as a 501c3 in 2016.
One of her most rewarding professional accomplishments was a collaborative partnership with
Karmanos researchers, physicians and staff, and the Komen Normal Tissue Bank at Indiana University, to
host a one-day breast tissue collection event at Karmanos Cancer Institute in September 2016,
successfully recruiting nearly 200 women (predominately minorities) to donate blood and healthy breast
tissue, as well as 400 volunteer physicians, researchers and staff members. This was all driven by
Katrina’s commitment to increase diversity in research to help end health disparities.
Katrina is a member of the Detroit Health Link for Cancer Care Advisory and Oversight Committee and
serves on the Michigan Cancer Consortium’s Membership and Health Equity committees. She is a
member Women's Committee at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History and the
Southfield Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Her commitment to health equity and being a change agent for the community has resulted in
numerous awards.
