Student, Advocate, and Administration in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

Katrina is a M.A. student in the History department at the University of Victoria. Her thesis examines post-Communist Russian national identity as defined by 21st century film.

A Medieval Historian originally, academics took an interesting turn when Katrina was inspired to take a Russian history class during her undergraduate degree. She immediately became intrigued and sought out ways to further explore and engage with Russian history.

Currently the chair of the Graduate Student Society at the University of Victoria, Katrina believes strongly in advocating for Graduate students and their interests. She works hard to ensure that their unique voices and research interests are heard across campus and by all avenues of administration.

Naturally, Katrina enjoys Russian films, but also Hollywood films of the action and science fiction genre. And avid traveller, Katrina aims to see as much of the world as possible! Her past travels have taken her to Russia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, South Korea, and Indonesia to name a few.Katrina also enjoys reading, snowboarding, surfing and running.
