Katty Hartmann

Salut mes amis!

My name is Katty and I have just finished my 5th year of teaching. I typically teach French and ELL at a small high-school in Richmond. However, due to a shortage of French teachers in my district, I will be full time French next year. I am a little sad about this as I will really miss my ELL classes. :(

I was born in Germany, and moved to Canada with my mom at the age of 6. I still struggle to this day with my "cultural identity", and I find it extremely interesting when I see my students going through this as well. Second Language Methodology in general has always been of great interest to me. I've also always had a passion for learning languages. I speak English, French, and German fluently. My next goal is to learn Spanish (starting in the fall hopefully). These reasons have led me to want to teach students languages.

When I am not in the classroom, or surfing Pinterest, I can be found in a studio. I started taking spin & yoga classes in January, to try to get active/fit, to prepare for the bikini season ;-), and also to find a better work-life balance.
