If someone were to ask me where I see myself in ten years, my honest response would be “not here.” Everyday I realize more that I cannot picture myself staying in one place forever. I feel pieces of myself all around. I have a burning desire for constant change and adventure in my life. I crave to see, to meet, to feel, to be lost, and then to be found again. I’m hungry for life and to travel the world.
Traveling has always been a huge part of my life. Ever since I can remember, my family and I would travel somewhere new at any opportunity that we had. We lived three summers at beautiful Lake Tahoe. This enabled us to explore much of California and Nevada. We also spent a lot of time in San Francisco and Napa Valley since they were only a 3-hour drive away. We also spent a couple of weeks in Hawaii, where we explored the forests and hiked a volcano. This past summer, however, I traveled to Europe with a group of friends.
Our trip was called the World War II Tour. Our first destination was London, where we stayed for 2 days. We went to Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, British Museum, Big Ben, and the London Eye Ferris Wheel. Then we took a ferry to Normandy where we spent our day visiting the Normandy beaches and the American Cemetery. Paris was our next stop, where we spent two days visiting the Eiffel tower, Louvre, and Versailles Palace. We then drove through Belgium where we stopped at Bastogne to see the Memorial Museum. Then we took a train to Berlin, where we visited “Checkpoint Charlie” and the Berlin Wall. We then traveled to Munich, and then to Nuremberg. After that we arrived at Berchtesgaden where we saw the Eagles Nest – Hitler’s getaway. We ended our trip with a day trip to Salzburg where we saw Mozart’s birthplace.
At every destination of the trip I found a piece of myself, I have never felt more whole then I was learning and experiencing the different cultures and the different things that each place had to offer. I plan to travel as much as possible throughout my life, and find new things about myself.
