I discovered my passion for healthcare in high school, when my interests of social interactions and helping the community collided with math and science. In college I studied Math and Healthcare Economics, which lead me to the position of Research Coordinator for a group of spine specialists where I coordinated FDA trials and designed, analyzed and conducted the group's independent studies. In the private practice, I also gained management experience overseeing the New Patient Department and carrying out process improvement projects. I enjoyed the management experience and decided to further my education towards this path.
I am currently in my second and final year at Boston University, where I will be graduating in May 2012 with a MS in Information Systems and a MBA in Health Sector Management. I am working part-time at Children's Hospital Boston as a Process Improvement Intern, where I worked full-time this past summer. I am interested in a career in hospital operations, where I can manage projects that decrease waste, improve patient experience and increase the quality of care delivery. My ultimate goal is to be the Chief Operating Officer of a medical organization, where I can oversee day-to-day operations and enact positive change from a strategic level.
