Katy Roveda
Teacher and Mother in Whitby, Ontario, Canada
Katy is a Fine Arts graduate of York University, where she majored in the study of dance. She attended OISE at the University of Toronto, where she received her Bachelor of Education in the Junior & Intermediate divisions. Katy has been teaching elementary school with the York Region District School Board for 10 years. She and her husband Scott have 2 beautiful daughters: Kyra, age 2 1/2, and Emily, age 6 months. Katy is currently enjoying maternity leave.
She loves her job as an elementary teacher, and feels fortunate to be in a career that allows her to inspire student creativity and passion within the arts, as well as provide a medium for encouraging global awareness and social justice within her community.
After school hours, Katy enjoys playing the snare drum for Royal Canadian Legion Branch 66 Pipe Band in Toronto, singing in the "Southern Nights Trio", playing video games with her husband (once the kids are in bed!) and enjoying a nice glass of wine.
