Kaustav Das
I feel best after finding my rhythm at a task. To me a rhythm is when I feel completely disconnected from the world and hence achieve complete connection to what I am doing at that point in time.
I have always enjoyed sports, playing them more than watching. Football is a favorite and am excited about what I see in the ISL.
I have come to enjoy long duration physical activities such as running, cycling and even swimming. I have run a full marathon, a couple of 37.5 Km runs and several half marathons. I like to find a rhythm in these activities and once achieved, I feel that time and distance tend to fold till I realize that I have arrived at my destination.
MUSIC has always been in me. Before I started training as a bass guitarist, I taught myself to play the acoustic rhythm guitar, a rock drum kit, the flute, and somewhere in between started playing the bass when given the opportunity in my college rock band. I am open to most musical genres but prefer listening to instrumental jazz and Indian classical. Some of my favorite musicians are John Coltrane, Jaco Pastorius, Bob Dylan and the list doesn't end. At the moment I am listening to a lot of Keith Jarrett, Christian McBride and Avishai Cohen.
I ride a Royal Enfield Machismo 350, been with me for 8 years now and we are aging well together. We have been on several destinations together such as Delhi - Ladakh and Bangalore - Pondycherry. I wish to do a solo ride one day without a destination in mind.
Given the opportunity I would get a job where I can just be travelling, but then again, as the wise man said, "The grass is always greener on the other side". Cliche Alert!
Keeping that in mind, I earn my bread, butter and some beer being a Digital Measurement Expert and help businesses make informed strategic decisions. I have worked with companies such as America Online, HP, Genpact and Microsoft. At present I am employed at Wunderman International in Gurgaon.
I was brought up in New Delhi and went to school at the Mothers International School. I went to Mysore to graduate as a Mechanical Engineer from Visvesvaraya Technological University . This was followed by 2 years in Hyderabad where I did my MBA from ICFAI. Besides the formal education, I have been constantly teaching my self to learn new things. I feel blessed to have my share in the world of opportunities and I yearn to evolve continuously.
